The setup this week

I’m staying fully invested this week. More than half the market is trading above its long-term trend, participation is broad rather than narrow, and the index is holding above both of the moving averages I watch. That is the backdrop the system wants to lean into, so almost nothing sits in cash.

The scoring underneath did shift. The system leaned further into growth and eased off value, while the rest held broadly stable. On its own that is a modest move, but it landed on the weights causing several positions resize, two names come off the list, and a holding from the middle of the pack steps up into the leaders.

What happened this week

The portfolio finished the week down 6.5%, against the market down 2.0%. Most of the drop came in a single session at the end of the week, after the book had been slightly higher through Wednesday.

Under the hood, three of the fifteen positions finished higher, the strongest up around 5%. The other fell, most of them in the low single digits, and the steepest down about 14%. The few that held up were outside technology. The chip and hardware names that had carried the gains through the past month were where most of the loss came from, and when they turned together the rest of the book followed.

None of that got decided on Friday. Every position, its weight, and the price where it gets sold were all set last Monday, written down before the week started. So when the market turned, the names that hit their sell levels came out on plan, which protected from further drops. A day like this one is the reason those levels exist. The decisions were already made before the afternoon got rough.

My account, traded on Alpaca, now sits at $64,436, down about $4,200 after this week, nearly five months since starting with $30,000.

The setup this week

The trend is intact. The broad market sits above both major moving averages, and the underlying participation, while neutral by most measures, has been improving. Breadth is rising strongly under the surface, which tends to confirm the move rather than contradict it.

More than half of all stocks are trading above their long-term averages. Not euphoric, but healthy enough for the system to stay fully deployed.

Scoring weights didn’t change week over week. Over the past month, there’s been a modest tilt toward companies with stronger earnings and profitability, and a small step away from cheaper names. All within normal range. When the inputs hold steady, portfolio changes come from the stocks themselves rather than from any shift in the system’s priorities.

This week the system is running 15 positions with two new entries and five exits. Most of the movement came from resizing positions already held.

What this is

A portfolio of US stocks, long only, that runs in any brokerage. Every Monday before the open it scores roughly 2,000 names on the signals that have separated long-term winners from the rest, then holds the 20 with the highest conviction.

Most systems are built for one kind of market. This one adjusts. When conditions turn from calm to rough the weightings move with them, so it keeps compounding across cycles instead of shining in one good year and falling apart in the next.

Orders are placed once at Monday’s open and the stops are set at the same time, as standing orders.

Nothing to watch for the rest of the week. It was built over a year, paper-traded for eight months, and has run live with real money since January 12, 2026.

Expected Performance

The volatility is high on purpose. Roughly the same worst drawdown as the index, for nearly five times the return. That is the trade.

Who it’s for

Someone who already invests and wants a repeatable process instead of gut calls and hot tips. Someone who wants to beat the market over years without making investing a second job, and who would rather trust a process tested hard and running live in the open than a voice promising returns it won’t show.

Your account size is not the constraint. The positions are mid and large US names with enough daily volume that a book many times larger than this newsletter could trade the same weights without moving the price.

The edge is in the selection, not in being small, so whether you bring a few thousand or a few hundred thousand, you get the same portfolio.

It is not for everyone. The portfolio is concentrated and it draws down. If watching roughly a third of the account go red in a bad stretch would end the experiment for you, this is not your system.

What happened this week

Up 8.8% against SPY’s 0.9%. The week started rough, the portfolio dropped while the market wobbled. Wednesday reversed the whole move and pushed the line above Monday’s open. Thursday and Friday kept climbing. By the close, the portfolio had more than recovered last week’s pullback and set a new all-time high.

No stops were hit. The portfolio is at a new high, and the year-to-date crossed 100%. The Dub account has doubled since inception in January. It took 18 weeks. At the close on Friday, Lionshare was the number one ranked portfolio on Dub Core by three-month returns.
